Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Nastics! What all our students and parents should know:
1. What to wear:
Girls - Leotard or shorts and T-shirt; white socks or bare feet (No tights unless they are cut off at ankle). One-piece bathing suits allowed in hot weather. Hair tied back. In Winter months. . .warm up suits or leg warmers allowed.
Boys - gym shorts & T-shirt, white socks or bare feet. Warm-up suits allowed.
NO ONE should wear clothes with belts, buckles or zippers because of damage to equipment or injury to instructors & students.
Please leave all jewelry at home and no gum chewing. Summer Students: Bring small hand towel
2. Pick up/drop off:
Parents PLEASE be prompt in dropping off and picking up your child. A proper "Warm-up" during the first 10 minutes of the class is VITAL, to prevent injuries. And children can become anxious when picked up late. If you are going to be late picking up, please call us.
3. Attendance & Make-UP Policy:
Students are expected to attend every class. However, if you must miss a class, PLEASE call ahead of time so that we can use your space for someone else's Make-Up. M.U.'s are not mandatory, but a courtesy to you, and are limited to 3 per session. (2 M.U.’s in summer session). Make-ups will not be rescheduled unless the office is notified prior to the make-up class. M.U.’s not attended will be forfeited.
4. How Classes Work:
There could be 2, 3 or 4 classes scheduled within the same hour (or 1 1/2 hrs.). When coming into the gym, students should put belongings into a cubby and then wait quietly in the dance area until their class is called on to the mat. All students warm up together in a circle for the first 10 minutes of class (for some 1 1/2 hr. classes, there may be an additional time for "line floor basics" done together).
After Warm-ups, students are split into their small groups for attendance and remain in that group, rotating to three different "events" in the hour.
Instructors stay on one event throughout the hour, allowing them to work with each group for a portion of the class. (We believe that students will benefit from the different teaching styles of each instructor).
We go to great lengths to have our students grouped appropriately. So we ask your cooperation should we need to change a child's class. At the same time, we urge you to tell us immediately if a situation arises that causes your child to be "uncomfortable" in his/her group. (Whether it be "social" or gymnastic related).
5. Parent Observation
We ask parents to observe classes through the one-way mirrors in the parent room ONLY. On few occasions, we will invite parents into the gym during class, but to minimize distraction, we urge you to limit your observation to once a month. Periodic observation will eliminate over-crowdedness in the parent room and you will see more progress when you do not watch every week. If there is ever a question or concern, please do not hesitate to speak to Gary. We want your child's experience at Nastics to be a great one - and we will do all we can to help him/her achieve that.
6. In Case of Injury:
You will be called in the unlikely event of an injury. Gary and other members of our staff are trained in Red Cross and CPR. Your child is in excellent hands. Please notify us immediately if your child comes home complaining of an injury that we may not have been aware of. Nastics carries "excess" medical insurance. ($100 deductible, with a $10,000 max. per accident). Should you need additional coverage over and above your own, it will be supplied to you after you fill out an accident form.
7. In case of Inclement Weather:
We do not close easily. Call the school for a taped message to be sure. 567-0066.
When possible, a “snow Make-Up Day” will be scheduled.
8. Tuition Payment
Cash, Check, Visa, Master card or Debit Card accepted.
Can be made in 1, 2 or 3 installments. 1st payment is the Deposit at time of registration. The Balance is due on the 1st day of the session. If need be, a 3rd and final payment can be made 1 month into the session.
You will not be billed, but will be given a calendar/Payment schedule. We ask you to pay installments on time. If we do have to send you a reminder, you will be charged a $10 late fee with each reminder notice.
You are paying for a reserved space – (a 17 week commitment in Sessions I & II, and an 8 week commitment in Summer Session). There are no refunds or credits for missed classes, or discontinuation of a session.
HOWEVER, we do have a FIRST MONTH refund policy for new students. In the event that you decide our program is not for you, you must notify the office WITHIN THE FIRST 4 WEEKS of the session. At that time, we will refund all monies paid, minus the $25 registration fee and the classes that the student either took, or was holding a spot for. After the first month there will be no Refunds issued. We ask you understanding and cooperation.
Have you done the following:
-Filled out a blue registration card?
-Picked up your child's Nastics T-shirt (included with initial registration fee)?
-Read the Nastics Newsletter & News Board frequently?
-Arranged with Debbie or Tammy a tuition payment plan & received a school calendar?
